This is a revised version of a render that I created as a student. This updated version was created in March 2013. In 2012, the original piece, which lacks much post-processing, was featured in Ceiga, Issue 14, page 64. issuu.com/ceiga/docs/issue14
The scene was created in Maya and rendered with mental ray. Due to the size and complexity of the scene, importance sampling with irradiance particles was used for indirect illumination instead of Global Illumination and Final Gather, which drastically improved render time.
